Tras muchos a?os de presi?n beligerante, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.publico.es\/ciencias\/medioambiente\/033058\/huelga\/hambre\/transgenicos\/bove\">activistas franceses encabezados por Jos? Bov?<\/a> han logrado que se introduzca una <a href=\"http:\/\/www.publico.es\/ciencias\/036369\/transgenicos\/maiz\/monsanto\/ecologistas\">moratoria en el cultivo de ma?z transg?nico<\/a>, el ?nico cultivo con Organismos Modificados Gen?ticamente (en adelante OMG) permitido en el pa?s galo cuya patente pertenece a la empresa multinacional Monsanto. Tras m?s de una semana en huelga de hambre, el ministro franc?s del ramo anunci? la medida que impedir? seguir plantando ma?z a cuyo genoma se le ha incorporado directamente una toxina procedente de un bacteria, el Bacillus thuringensis (BT) para que se muestren resistentes al <a href=\"http:\/\/www.agroinformacion.com\/plaga-enfermedad.aspx?plaga=131\">taladro del ma?z<\/a>, una mariposa o m?s bien una polilla cuya oruga se alimenta de la planta. <\/p>\n<p>Nuestro pa?s est? afectado tambi?n por el taladro del ma?z, pero, al contrario que en Francia, siembra decenas de miles de hect?reas de Ma?z BT sin ning?n tipo de limitaci?n o control hasta el punto de que es el principal productor de la UE. En zonas donde la presi?n de la plaga es muy alta el taladro puede hacer perder hasta un m?ximo del 15% de la cosecha seg?n datos de las propias empresas de biotecnolog?a que pretenden colar este producto, por lo que los n?meros es presumiblemente que est?n bien hinchados. As? que ese peque?o porcentaje de p?rdidas ?por otra parte f?cilmente controlables por medios poco a nada agresivos? justifica que estemos jugando a la ruleta rusa con la seguridad alimentaria y liberando al ambiente peligrosos genes capaces de contaminar a otros cultivos naturales contrastadamente saludables por la praxis de miles de agricultores durante decenas, centenares o incluso miles de a?os. La trituraci?n de los rastrojos antes de la salida de las mariposas, la siembra temprana, la rotaci?n de cultivos, el fomento de sus predadores y par?sitos e incluso, en casos de ataques intensos, algunos tipos de insecticidas que no afecten a sus enemigos naturales en el seno de t?cnicas de lucha integrada son m?todos alternativos al uso de transg?nicos perfectamente plausibles y mucho menos agresivos que el engendro de la mezcla antinatura de una bacteria t?xica y una planta comestible.<\/p>\n<p>Pero la cuesti?n es que Francia no puede ir por libre, los transg?nicos est?n aprobados en la UE por una Directiva reguladora y el establecimiento de reservas particulares, cl?usulas de salvaguardia, no es f?cil de mantener. La presi?n de EEUU es muy fuerte y ha establecido un casus belli de la postura comunitaria de mantener cierta prudencia ante los OMG. Si no se abren los mercados europeos es probable que a medio plazo <a href=\"http:\/\/ve.invertia.com\/noticias\/noticia.aspx?idNoticia=200801151629_EFE_ET2260&#038;idtel=\">estalle una guerra comercial<\/a> apoyada por la Organizaci?n Mundial del Comercio y ha pedido que se impida la puesta en pr?ctica de la iniciativa francesa.
