La mayor\u00eda es descendiente de los al menos 700.000 palestinos que fueron expulsados de sus hogares por los sionistas o huyeron de los combates de 1948 que condujeron a la creaci\u00f3n del r\u00e9gimen de Israel.<\/p>\n<p>El Departamento estadounidense de Estado inform\u00f3 el 31 de agosto del&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.hispantv.com\/noticias\/ee-uu-\/386933\/trump-cortar-fondos-unrwa-presiones-palestinos\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">recorte de todo el presupuesto&nbsp;<\/a>destinado a la UNRWA por considerar que \u00abes una operaci\u00f3n irremediablemente fallida\u00bb.<\/p>\n<p>A juicio del analista pol\u00edtico, la medida de Washington ha creado un momento muy dif\u00edcil para la Agencia, sin embargo, ha apuntado, el ente est\u00e1 organizando suplementos adicionales de otros pa\u00edses para ayudar a los palestinos.<\/p>\n<p>La cancelaci\u00f3n de las contribuciones estadounidenses a la UNRWA ha sido ampliamente criticada tanto por funcionarios palestinos como por la comunidad internacional. La Autoridad Nacional Palestina (ANP)&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.hispantv.com\/noticias\/palestina\/386929\/mahmud-abbas-recorte-eeuu-unrwa-refugiados\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">tild\u00f3 la decisi\u00f3n de EE.UU. de un \u00abflagrante ataque\u00bb a los palestinos<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Por otra parte, la medida&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.hispantv.com\/noticias\/oriente-medio\/387012\/israel-eeuu-trump-unrwa-fondos-palestina\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">fue alabada por el r\u00e9gimen de Tel Aviv<\/a>. Un representante de la oficina del primer ministro israel, Benjam\u00edn Netanyahu, acus\u00f3 a la UNRWA de \u00abperpetuar el conflicto entre Palestina e Israel.
