Ya fue condenada en su d?a en los EEUU por abuso de posici?n dominante, pero fue justo cuando los dem?cratas perdieron el gobierno y Bush pr?cticamente anul? la sentencia imponiendo una condena de chiste. Pero ahora, el lobby de la empresa de Redmon no ha podido jugar con la Uni?n Europea. La Corte de Justicia ha refrendado la sentencia anterior que obligaba a Microsoft a vender un sistema operativo sin su reproductor multimedia (Windows Media Player) para permitir al reproductor de <a href=\"http:\/\/www.realnetworks.com.mx\/\">Real<\/a> y al <a href=\"http:\/\/www.apple.com\/es\/quicktime\/download\/\"> QuickTime<\/a> de Apple competir libremente en el mercado. <\/p>\n<p>Adem?s, deber? pagar una multa de casi 500 millones de euros, la m?s alta de las impuestas en la historia de la UE. Al precio que est? el euro se convierte en unos 650 millones de d?lares, que aunque puede parecer desorbitada, seguro que no supone un gran contratiempo para Microsoft, acostumbrada a acuerdos extrajudiciales por cantidades parecidas. Recordemos si no los acuerdos de 1600 millones de d?lares con Sun por el asunto de Java, o el arreglo de 536 millones con Novell, a cuentas de WordPerfect que provoc? que se retirara de este mismo proceso como parte acusadora. <\/p>\n<p>Pero claro, con 40.000 millones en caja, la cosa no es tan grave. Creo que es mucho peor el golpe a la imagen de Microsoft, una de las empresas peor vistas del planeta. Recuerdo a un empleado de la compa??a que se quejaba amargamente hace poco de que pr?cticamente sent?a verg?enza de trabajar en ella, que lo que antes era muy \u00abcool\u00bb, ahora se hab?a convertido casi en una pesadilla.<\/p>\n<p>El a?o que viene veremos la versi?n de Windows sin el Media Player s?lo para Europa. L?stima que en su d?a se escaqueara de hacer lo propio con Explorer. Aunque de tan patata que es el navegador de internet de la casa, est? perdiendo cuota de mercado d?a a d?a, fundamentalmente a mano de <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mozilla-europe.org\/es\/products\/firefox\/\">Firefox<\/a>.
