Me hizo mucha gracia el anuncio de Obama de que si llegaba al poder iba a acabar con el poder de los lobbys en los gobiernos de norteam\u00e9rica. Cuando finalmente fue nombrado candidato dem\u00f3crata lo primero que hizo fue ir a presentar sus respetos a la poderos\u00edsima AIPAC de la mano de Hillary Clinton, por lo que sab\u00edamos en qu\u00e9 iba a acabar su promesa: en agua de borrajas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Los primeros nombramientos en el gabinete reforzaron esa idea, a lo mejor se refer\u00eda a todos los lobbys menos al pro israel\u00ed, el lobby<\/em> a secas como se le conoce en los pasillos del Congreso ya que, sin duda, es el grupo de presi\u00f3n m\u00e1s poderoso de cuantos existen entre los cabilderos de Washington, no se necesitan apellidos para referirse a \u00e9l.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sin embargo, juzgar su influencia en la pol\u00edtica exterior norteamericana ya conlleva de inmediato ser tildado de antisemita como le ocurri\u00f3 a dos reputados profesores universitarios que se atrevieron a publicar un estudio sobre los problemas que hab\u00eda causado en la historia reciente de EEUU la subyugaci\u00f3n de los intereses de propios frente a los de Israel en las decisiones relativas a asuntos exteriores<\/a> y al papel del imperio en el mundo. Demostraron fehacientemente hasta qu\u00e9 punto un peque\u00f1o pa\u00eds manejaba a su antojo las decisiones de gobierno aunque perjudicara los intereses y la imagen de EEUU frente al mundo poniendo en riesgo las pol\u00edticas de lucha contra el terrorismo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Parece que s\u00f3lo hablar de la existencia del lobby jud\u00edo es pol\u00edticamente incorrecto en EEUU e incluso en Europa. Sin embargo, a veces es imposible ocultar su poder a los medios de comunicaci\u00f3n. Esta semana ha sido uno de esas ocasiones. Nada m\u00e1s y nada menos que se han atrevido a tumbar el nombramiento del candidato de Obama para el cargo principal de la inteligencia estadounidense<\/a>. Charles Freeman, el postulante hab\u00eda osado criticar la pol\u00edtica de ocupaci\u00f3n de Cisjordania y ello le cost\u00f3 el puesto a pesar de ser un diplom\u00e1tico bastante valorado. La cosa pod\u00eda haber quedado aqu\u00ed, pero sus declaraciones lo dicen todo:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

LAMENTO QUE MI DISPOSICI\u00d3N A SERVIR A LA NUEVA ADMINISTRACI\u00d3N HAYA FINALIZADO ARROJANDO DUDAS SOBRE SU CAPACIDAD PARA CONSIDERAR, Y MUCHO MENOS, DECIDIR LAS POL\u00cdTICAS QUE MEJOR RESPONDAN A LOS INTERESES DE ESTADOS UNIDOS, EN LUGAR DE LAS QUEUN GRUPO DE PRESI\u00d3N TRATE DE IMPONER PARA DEFENDER LA VOLUNTAD E INTERESES DE UN GOBIERNO EXTRANJERO<\/strong>.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

A\u00daN AS\u00cd, ME ENTRISTECE LO QUE ESTA CONTROVERSIA Y LA MANERA EN LA QUE LA VIRULENCIA P\u00daBLICA DE AQUELLOS QUE SE DEDICARON A SOSTENERLA, REVELA SOBRE EL ESTADO DE NUESTRA SOCIEDAD CIVIL.
