Italia ha manifestado en refer?ndum un NO rotundo a la energ?a nuclear. Berlusconi pretend?a construir en Italia hasta cuatro nuevas centrales pero, oli?ndose lo que iba a suceder con la opini?n p?blica tras los desastres de Jap?n, decidi? posponer un par de a?os la iniciativa esperando que se olvidaran estos hechos y fueran m?s d?ciles a sus tentativas de nuclearizaci?n del pa?s. Trat? utilizar esta argucia dilatoria para evitar la consulta popular, pero el Tribunal Supremo dio la raz?n a la oposici?n y, como era de esperar, el resultado ha sido masivamente negativo contando con una participaci?n mayor del 50%, por lo que seg?n las leyes del pa?s, es absolutamente vinculante. Il Cavaliere tendr? que obviar sus planes at?micos y, al ritmo decadente que va, ya no podr? volver a intentarlo m?s adelante. La rep?blica italiana seguir? sin ninguna planta at?mica tras el cierre en 1990 de la ?ltima central que se manten?a en funcionamiento de las 4 que pose?a cuando se produjo el accidente de Chernobyl.<\/p>\n
Y es que de las otras 3 preguntas que se consultaban en refer?ndum, una de ellas era para derogar la ley que permit?a a los miembros del gobierno blindarse ante la justicia y no presentarse a juicio cuando se les acusen de delitos penales no cometidos en el ejercicio del cargo. Con casi el 60% de participaci?n y un 95% de votos contrarios a Berlusconi, la consulta anuncia el fin de la era m?s pat?tica y vergonzante de la pol?tica italiana. Los resultados se?alan la p?rdida de popularidad del presidente y la desaparici?n de la impunidad legal con la que se estaba protegiendo a golpe de decreto a medida que la justicia iba cerrando el cerco sobre ?l tras los m?ltiples casos de corrupci?n en los que se encuentra envuelto.<\/p>\n
De todas maneras, volviendo al tema nuclear, lo sucedido en Italia es una muestra de c?mo la democracia en el estado espa?ol es una pura pantomima. Mientras que en los pa?ses de nuestro entorno se consulta a la poblaci?n directamente sobre multitud de cuestiones que les afectan a su vida cotidiana, aqu? los refer?ndums son una pura an?cdota usada por imperativo legal y, si se puede, se escamotean los resultados ignorando la voluntad popular, tal y como ocurri? cuando nos metieron con calzador en la OTAN.
