Seg?n las declaraciones que se hicieron el d?a de la entrega del control del canal a Panam? en 1999, ?EE.UU. se segu?a reservando el derecho de intervenci?n militar si ve?a que peligraban los intereses norteamericanos en esta v?a de comunicaci?n?. Centroam?rica tiene que estar en la lucha de las grandes uniones de pa?ses regionales para enfrentar un mundo competitivo que ya est? a las puertas?, afirm?.
