Estados Unidos va a reforzar los efectivos militares que mantiene en la regi?n del Golfo con la adici?n de un nuevo portaaviones m?s la flota que la suele acompa?arlo. De momento tiene desplegado en la zona al Eisenhower (con capacidad para 80 cazas) junto a tres barcos m?s y un submarino llegados hace unos pocos d?as frente a las costas iran?es. En total suman unos 6.500 soldados. Se le unir? en breve probablemente el USS Stennis y un par de barcos brit?nicos dragaminas.<\/p>\n

En principio, responsables del Pent?gono afirman que no se trata de una operaci?n militar sino una maniobra disuasoria para forzar a Ir?n a paralizar su programa nuclear. Sin embargo, las resoluciones que se barajan en el Consejo de Seguridad nunca se han basado en el Cap?tulo VII que permite el uso de la fuerza para hacerlas cumplir, sino en el 41 que excluye expresamente acciones militares en caso de incumplimiento. As? pues, se trata de una acci?n unilateral fuera de lugar que manifiesta desprecio por la diplomacia del mismo tipo que la que llev? a la invasi?n de Irak. Obviamente Ir?n ha protestado, ha declinado renunciar a su programa nuclear civil y ha pedido que inspectores de la AIEA supervisen el programa at?mico militar clandestino de Israel, puesto de manifiesto despu?s de la metedura de pata<\/em> de Olmert.<\/p>\n
