\"\"<\/a>Un grupo de laureados con el Premio Nobel de la Paz, adem?s de destacados artistas y activistas, han emitido un llamamiento a favor del boicot militar a Israel tras su ataque de este mes contra la Franja de Gaza. La carta denuncia asimismo a Estados Unidos, la Uni?n Europa y varios pa?ses en v?as de desarrollo por lo que describe como complicidad con Israel a trav?s de la venta de armamento y apoyo militar diverso en el ataque que mat? a 162 palestinos, muchos de ellos civiles, incluidos alrededor de 35 ni?os.<\/p>\n

Entre los 52 firmantes figuran los Premios Nobel de la Paz Mairead Maguire y Adolfo P?rez Esquivel; los directores de cine Mike Leigh y Ken Loach; la escritora Alice Walker; el acad?mico estadounidense Noam Chomsky; Roger Waters de Pink Floyd; y St?phane Hessel, un antiguo diplom?tico franc?s y superviviente del Holocausto que fue coautor de la Declaraci?n Universal de los Derechos Humanos.<\/p>\n

\u00abPara ser libre no basta simplemente con deshacerse de las propias cadenas, hay que vivir de forma que se respete y se incremente la libertad de los dem?s\u00bb ? Nelson Mandela<\/em><\/p>\n

\n<\/blockquote>\n

Horrorizados ante la ?ltima serie de agresiones israel?es contra 1,5 millones de palestinos en la asediada y ocupada Franja de Gaza, y conscientes de la impunidad que ha permitido este nuevo cap?tulo en las d?cadas de violaciones del Derecho Internacional y de los derechos de los palestinos por parte de Israel, creemos que es necesario que de forma urgente se ponga en marcha una acci?n internacional a favor de un embargo militar integral y obligatorio contra Israel.?Este tipo de medidas ha sido objeto de varias Resoluciones de la ONU y es muy parecida al embargo de armas impuesto en el pasado contra el apartheid sudafricano.<\/p>\n

La beligerancia sin control de Israel y ?la persistente?negaci?n de los derechos humanos y la autodeterminaci?n para el pueblo palestino, exigen un esfuerzo concertado de la sociedad civil internacional para forzar a los gobiernos del mundo a poner fin a sus v?nculos de complicidad. Esta impunidad ha permitido que Israel contin?e la ocupaci?n, la colonizaci?n y la negaci?n a los refugiados palestinos de sus derechos reconocidos por la ONU.<\/div>\n

Si bien Estados Unidos ha sido el principal patrocinador de Israel mediante el suministro de miles de millones de d?lares en equipo militar avanzado cada a?o, el papel de la Uni?n Europea no debe pasar desapercibido, en particular, sus fuertes subsidios al complejo militar de Israel a trav?s de sus programas de investigaci?n. De forma similar, consideramos desmesurados los crecientes v?nculos militares entre Israel y las econom?as emergentes de Brasil, India y Corea del Sur, teniendo en cuenta su apoyo nominal a la liberaci?n de Palestina.<\/p>\n

Los lazos militares con Israel han impulsado actos incesantes de agresi?n. Israel contin?a para consolidar la subyugaci?n de los palestinos mientras est? provocando o iniciando un conflicto armado con sus vecinos de la regi?n.<\/p>\n

Los intentos de Israel de justificar este tipo de uso ilegal de la violencia y de la fuerza militar desproporcionada como actos de \u00abauto-defensa\u00bb no se sostiene ante un escrutinio legal o moral. Los Estados no pueden invocar la leg?tima defensa frente a actos que sirven para defender una situaci?n il?cita que ellos mismos han creado en el primer lugar.<\/p>\n

Por ello, apoyamos el llamamiento de la sociedad civil palestina para poner en marcha un embargo militar urgente y completo a Israel como medida efectiva y no violenta para detener las guerras y la represi?n de Israel y lograr que este pa?s cumpla con sus obligaciones en virtud del derecho internacional. Esta acci?n es ahora un imperativo moral y legal para lograr una paz justa y global.<\/p>\n
